OC Bar Association Seeks Volunteer Arbitrators

The Orange County Bar Association is currently seeking non-attorney volunteers to serve as arbitrators on the Mandatory Fee Arbitration Committee. In this role, volunteers will serve as a non-attorney arbitrator on a three-person panel to help resolve fee disputes between clients and their attorneys as set forth in Business and Profession Codes. Volunteers are required to participate in at least one arbitration per year. Meetings are generally via Zoom. Volunteers must have the necessary qualifications to serve as a neutral non-attorney arbitrator. Volunteers cannot be an attorney, paralegal, legal assistant, law student, or have attended law school. Free training is provided to volunteers.

The OCBA is hosting a New Arbitrator Training on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the OCBA’s office in Newport Beach at 4101 Westerly Place, Newport Beach. The application flyer can be found here. We would be pleased to include any former grand jurors who may be interested in serving!

Help Needed During the Primary & General Elections

Do you want to see a deeper level of how elections are administered in Orange County?

We all have taken tours of the Registrar of Voters (ROV) when we were on sitting on the Grand Jury. Orange County’s ROV is award winning and supports the 5th largest county election in the nation. During elections the public is welcomed to observe all election operations, but that’s all they can do, observe. Workers support the counting and auditing of the elections.

The Orange County Registrar of Voters is currently accepting applications for various seasonal paid positions to work in the upcoming general election. Seasonal positions help in a variety of ways such as assisting voters, recruiting and training Vote Center employees, serving in the public or Vote Center employee phone bank, processing ballots, assist in Vote Centers. Election Workers receive and distribute supplies, ensure all mail is processed correctly, and make certain that all voting equipment is functional and properly delivered. Seasonal employees also assist in processing voter applications and mail in ballots in our Information Technology operations, Election Aides review ballots and assist in election result audits.
